About Chhunchi

Chhunchi takes its name from the Odia word for sewing needle, a nod to the craft behind every saree. Founded by Purtika Choudhury, the store brings together handloom sarees from weaving clusters across India, from Pochampally and Kanchipuram silks to Banarasi, Sambalpuri and Khandua weaves, sourced directly from weavers so their work finds the recognition it deserves.

Every saree is handpicked. Because each one is handwoven, small irregularities in the weave are a natural sign of handwork, and many pieces are one of a kind.
